Challenge accomplished! Yesterday I completed something that has been eating at me for almost eight years. Frances and I climbed to the base of the glacier at Rodgers pass. This was our second attempt at the accent. The first time we were UN prepared mentally and physically. This time we knew we were going to the top. We left Kelowna at 7 am and reached the pass at 10 am and started our climb. Our pace was awesome. We talked and hiked in silence both were special. 5 km up we missed the 2 and 3 k markers so when we reached our destination it was a bit of a surprise. If you have never tasted real glacier water I highly recommend it. The decent was just as exciting. We seemed to gain energy on the way down. At times we let ourselves run in spurts. After a few hours in the car we stopped in Banff for a great pasta dinner. The craziest part I was not sore and today I am still feeling great.
At Christmas time last year I was over 260 pounds, yesterday I climbed a mountain and drank glacier water. Living every moment of the experience. Without the choice to re- enter my life at Silent River I am sure I would be the same condition I was at Christmas. I am able to set goals and work towards them. If I fail I readjust and adapt.
This year is going to be so incredible.
